Former Sheffield Wednesday youth goalkeeper, Josh Render, has signed a contract with Gainsborough Trinity. The 23-year-old started at Wednesday’s academy as a teenager and progressed to the U23 team before being released in 2022 after a couple of years with a professional contract at Hillsborough.

Render then moved to Australia to join Olympic FC in Brisbane, where he earned the Players’ Player of the Year award. Last month, he returned to English football with Gainsborough on a short-term deal until the end of the season, playing in three matches.

It has now been confirmed that he has committed to the 2024/25 season, and he has expressed his excitement about the upcoming campaign.
