The Marlins Aim to Extend Winning Streak in Series Opener Against Milwaukee

The Miami Marlins are on fire, having won four out of six games last week, securing series victories over the Detroit Tigers and New York Mets. This marked their best winning percentage for any week this season, thanks to strong pitching and timely hitting.

The Marlins aim to maintain their momentum in tonight’s series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers. Left-hander Ryan Weathers will start for Miami, facing off against Joe Ross.

Miami’s lineup for May 20th is as follows:
– CF Jazz Chisholm Jr.
– DH Bryan De La Cruz
– 1B Josh Bell
– RF Jesús Sánchez
– 3B Jake Burger
– LF Nick Gordon
– 2B Otto Lopez
– SS Vidál Bruján
– C Nick Fortes

Weathers is coming off his best start of the season, having pitched eight scoreless innings against the Detroit Tigers, allowing only three hits, with no walks and four strikeouts. He has one previous start against the Brewers, in 2021 with the San Diego Padres, where he pitched four scoreless innings, giving up one hit, two walks, and striking out five. The only current Brewer to have faced him is shortstop Willy Adames, who went 1-2.

The Brewers lineup is as follows:
– DH William Contreras
– LF Christian Yelich
– 3B Joey Ortiz
– SS Willy Adames
– C Gary Sánchez
– RF Jackson Chourio
– 2B Andruw Monasterio
– 1B Owen Miller
– CF Joey Wiemer

Ross, on the other hand, has been improving his ERA after a rough start. In his last three starts, he’s allowed six earned runs in sixteen innings, striking out twelve and walking three. The last time Ross faced the Marlins was in 2021, where he pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits, two walks, and striking out eight. Three Marlins have faced him before: Josh Bell (2-4 with a homer), Jazz Chisholm Jr. (1-3), and Jesús Sánchez (1-2).

The series opener tonight is at 6:40 PM ET. It will be broadcasted on Bally Sports Florida for Marlins fans and Bally Sports Wisconsin for Brewers fans. Audio broadcasts are available on Fox Sports 940AM (WINZ) and WAQI 710 for Miami, and WTMJ 620 and the Brewers Radio Network for Milwaukee.
