Manchester United have prioritized acquiring a new left-back this summer, with Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri emerging as their top target, according to reports.

The club is expected to undergo significant changes in the upcoming transfer window, following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 27.7% stake in the Premier League team earlier this year.

Omar Berrada is scheduled to join as the new CEO this summer, and Jason Wilcox has already been appointed as the new technical director, arriving from Southampton.

Ratcliffe and INEOS, the new co-owners of Manchester United, are also optimistic about securing Newcastle’s Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director soon.

Manager Erik ten Hag is under scrutiny after the team finished eighth in the Premier League and exited European competition before Christmas.

Reports indicate that all Manchester United players, except Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, and more recently Bruno Fernandes, are available for sale in the summer transfer window. This could lead to a significant squad overhaul.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano emphasized that signing a new left-back is a key priority for Manchester United. In his Caught Offside column, Romano mentioned, “Manchester United want to bring in a new left-back this summer. They will be busy addressing this position due to frequent injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, along with the mishandling of Sergio Reguilon’s situation in the January transfer window. The club is exploring options and looking for an important young player ready to compete.”
