Brazilian rising star Jefte’s transfer to Ibrox is now finalized, with the full back set to officially join Rangers in July, according to a report from Brazil.

Philippe Clement is in need of a left back as Borna Barisic’s six-year tenure in Scotland is set to end when his contract expires. Rangers had arranged a deal for the 20-year-old South American during the January transfer window, but complications arose due to his loan to APOEL Nicosia from Fluminense, which hindered the move’s finalization.

The Cypriot club wanted to sign Jefte permanently but failed to reach an agreement with him. Now, he is set to join Rangers. A Fluminense media outlet reports: “Despite APOEL’s interest in keeping the player, Jefte will be a Rangers player in Scotland from July onwards. Deal confirmed.”

Jefte is likely to join Panama defender Jose Cordoba at Rangers, with the club agreeing on personal terms with Cordoba and expected to negotiate a fee with Levski Sofia.

Reports from Bulgaria suggest the fee could be around £3.2 million, including future add-ons, with the initial upfront deal likely closer to £2 million.
