KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Bobby Witt Jr. hit two home runs, driving in six runs, as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Detroit Tigers 10-3 on Tuesday night for their fifth consecutive win.

Maikel Garcia started the game with a triple and scored on Witt’s infield single. Witt then stole second base and was brought home by Salvador Perez’s single to right field.

In the second inning, after singles by Kyle Isbel and Garcia, Witt hit a 468-foot home run off Casey Mize into the upper deck fountains, the longest of his career.

Mize (1-3) allowed six runs on nine hits with two strikeouts in just 1 2/3 innings, marking the shortest start of his career.

Garcia hit an RBI triple to right and scored on Witt’s sacrifice fly in the third inning, extending the Royals’ lead to 8-0. Garcia, who matched a career high with four hits and scored three runs, extended his hitting streak to nine games.

Witt hit a solo homer to lead off the sixth inning, marking his fourth career multi-homer game and tying his career best with six RBIs.

Hunter Renfroe’s fourth homer of the season in the seventh inning capped the scoring.

Kansas City recorded six extra-base hits and has achieved at least one extra-base hit in all 50 games this season, one game short of their franchise record set in 1978.
