Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga spent the season on loan with Luton Town, featuring in 19 matches despite encountering a couple of injury setbacks.
Despite those injury spells, Lokonga returned to the team towards the end of the season, making five consecutive starts in the final month and delivering some impressive performances.
Now, the 24-year-old must determine his next move, having already discussed the matter with Arsenal.
“For me, I had a discussion with Arsenal, and we agreed that the best thing for me was to leave the club,” Lokonga told BBC radio (via Luton Today). “Now, it’s up to my agent and the club to find a solution.
“I still have a contract there, with one year plus a one-year option, so we’ll see what happens.”
Reflecting on his time with Luton, Lokonga added: “I will definitely be back here.
“If I’m not playing for Luton, I will still visit because coming here was the best decision of my life. Playing for this club has been wonderful, and I thank Rob (Edwards) for inviting me to join him on this journey.”
Fabrizio Romano reports in his Daily Briefing that Arsenal are open to both loan and permanent offers for Lokonga this summer, depending on the fee and the player’s preference.
Arsenal aim to sign a new midfielder this summer, and with several players already in Lokonga’s position, the Belgian international is likely to depart.
