Huge setback: Jordan James departure will bring bidding to the Birmingham City for the young star

Birmingham City may face a bidding war for Jordan James as more clubs express interest in the young talent.

In January, Europa League winners Atalanta made offers for James, while Fiorentina, Crystal Palace, and Wolves have previously shown interest. Now, West Ham and Leicester City are reportedly keen on signing him.

Journalist Alan Nixon reports that West Ham are currently leading the chase for James and have been in contact with Birmingham about the 19-year-old midfielder. West Ham’s new manager Julen Lopetegui, who first showed interest in James while managing Wolves, is particularly eager to secure the player.

Given Birmingham’s relegation to League One, losing James this summer seems likely. However, the increased interest from various clubs could help the club secure a substantial transfer fee. James has 12 months left on his contract, with an additional year option.

James, who has already made his mark in the senior Wales team and scored eight goals in the Championship this season, is considered a top prospect. His international manager, Rob Page, anticipates a summer transfer.

“I think he has proven at top international level, against top midfielders like those from Croatia, that he is more than capable of playing at that level as a number six,” Page said. “I know there is definitely interest. I would not be surprised if he is gone. We will have to wait and see.”
