ITS ABOUT TO GO DOWN: Lions Stock Watch After Week 1 of OTAs

The Detroit Lions have wrapped up their first week of organized team activities (OTAs).

As they head into their second week of offseason workouts, Brad Holmes’ roster is showing both talent and depth. The team is coming together during these on-field sessions for the first time.

Here are three Lions whose stock is rising and three whose stock is falling after the initial round of OTAs.

Davis made a strong first impression during the open portion of OTAs on Thursday, excelling in coverage and notably locking up Jameson Williams on several reps.

The veteran defensive back exudes confidence and swagger, with a knack for making big plays and a winning track record. The Lions have lacked a true standout at cornerback in recent years, with their pass defense ranking near the bottom of the league.

Davis might change that this year. He has expressed high expectations for both himself and the team in 2024, and time will tell if he can meet those goals.

Dan Campbell named Williams the Lions’ most improved player during the early stages of offseason workouts. Much of this improvement has been seen in routes on air, highlighting his enhanced hands and route-running skills.

The Alabama product has always had game-changing potential, but by refining the finer technical aspects of his game, he can significantly elevate the Lions’ offense. Williams is likely to improve on his stats from last year, but the clock is ticking to determine his true value as the 2022 first-round pick. His performance this year will be crucial.

Special teams coordinator Dave Fipp echoed Holmes’ earlier message from the offseason, emphasizing that the kicking position will be competitive. While Badgley, the incumbent, is favored, his spot is not guaranteed.
