Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program are undoubtedly disappointed with their ACC Tournament outcome.

Despite the sting of the extra-innings loss to Wake Forest, Forbes knows his team can’t dwell on it.

After the game, Forbes addressed the media, emphasizing the need for the UNC baseball program to focus on the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

“Honestly, just flush it and move on. I’ve been fortunate to be here a long time, fortunate to be a part of some really good teams. Seven trips to Omaha and we felt we should have had a few more. But in some of those trips, we didn’t win the ACC Tournament. We tried, but there’s no reason to dwell on things. That’s where coaching comes in. We go back and say, ‘this is why a bunt is important. This is why we work on it. The right base-running decisions.’ But I’ll remind the guys that our aggressiveness and approach doesn’t need to change; that’s how you win a championship. We also need to use our heads and make smarter decisions. We’ll work on that, that’s our job to help these guys improve. Coaching these guys is a pleasure, so I’ll tell them to move on and trust us. We’ll get back to work on Sunday or Monday.”

Forbes’ perspective is accurate. North Carolina missed some opportunities they’d love to have back, but they can only move forward.

They must learn from these missed opportunities to improve, as they still have goals to achieve this season.

The disappointing ACC Tournament loss shouldn’t overshadow the outstanding regular season the UNC baseball program had. Instead, it should motivate them to continue improving as they aim for a run to Omaha in the coming weeks.
