Breaking news: HE IS COMING…….
DESTIN, Fla. — Brent Venables likely felt like the new kid at school on Tuesday morning.
The Oklahoma coach was immediately welcomed into the elite group of Southeastern Conference football coaches at the luxurious Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa.
Meanwhile, the sports media, deemed the nerds, were kept behind a barricade under the watchful eye of a security guard during work hours.
Oklahoma and Texas are just weeks away from their official entry into the SEC, where the unofficial motto is “It Just Means More.”
Venables, alongside athletic director Joe Castiglione and basketball coaches Porter Moser and Jennie Baranczyk, joined meetings with representatives from all 16 member schools.
Venables completed his initiation with a full day of discussions with SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and the 15 other coaches, focusing on topics like roster size and the potential for future revenue sharing with student-athletes during the league’s spring meetings.
