Tarik Cohen’s Deal with the New York Jets Canceled Due to Back Issues

The New York Jets have announced the cancellation of their deal with running back Tarik Cohen, citing concerns over his back. This unexpected development comes as a significant setback for both Cohen and the Jets, who were eager to see what the dynamic player could bring to their roster.

Cohen, known for his agility and playmaking abilities, had been in negotiations with the Jets for several weeks. The team had high hopes that his versatile skill set would add a new dimension to their offensive strategies. Unfortunately, during the final stages of the medical evaluation, issues with Cohen’s back were flagged, leading to the decision to call off the agreement.

In a statement, the Jets’ management expressed their disappointment: “Tarik Cohen is an exceptional talent, and we were excited about the possibility of him joining our team. However, player health and safety are our top priorities. After thorough medical examinations, it became clear that moving forward with the deal would not be in the best interest of either party.”

Cohen, who has faced multiple injuries in the past, including a serious knee injury in 2020, was looking forward to a fresh start with the Jets. His back issues, however, have raised concerns about his long-term durability and ability to contribute at the highest level.

The cancellation of the deal leaves Cohen’s future uncertain. As a free agent, he will need to address his health concerns before potentially seeking new opportunities with other NFL teams. Despite this setback, Cohen remains hopeful and determined.
