IT’S A DONE DEAL: Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler will be leaving the team to…..
Following their postseason elimination, the Philadelphia 76ers have been linked to several high-profile players. With multiple first-round picks and significant cap space, they are well-positioned to make a major trade this offseason.
One player mentioned in connection with the Sixers is Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler. Analysts have discussed the potential for Butler to reunite with the team, especially as he seeks an extension this summer, which has sparked rumors that Miami might consider trading him.
Butler, 34, had an impressive season, averaging 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. He is under contract through next season with a salary of $48.7 million and holds a $52.4 million player option for 2026.
With rumors circulating about Butler, Bleacher Report proposed a hypothetical trade scenario involving the Sixers, where Butler returns to Philadelphia in a four-team deal involving several star players.
In this proposed trade, the Sixers, Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Washington Wizards are involved. Miami would trade Butler and Tyler Herro but receive Donovan Mitchell, Kyle Kuzma, and three trade exceptions in return.
The Cavaliers would get Tyler Herro along with three first-round picks and one second-round pick, which represents a substantial return.
For the Wizards, this trade would enable them to focus on developing young talent, as they would acquire Paul Reed, Nikola Jovic, Ty Jerome, and two first-round picks.
In this scenario, the Sixers would acquire only Butler. Adding the six-time All-Star would give the Sixers a strong two-way player to complement Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. While there are concerns about injuries, Butler’s playoff experience could help the team overcome their postseason challenges.
