ITS A DONE DEAL: Mike Brown Sacramento Kings head coach has finally renew his contract with the kings just…….

Contract negotiations between the Sacramento Kings and head coach Mike Brown have reached a pivotal point.

With Monty Williams securing a $70 million deal from the Detroit Pistons and Mike Budenholzer earning $10 million annually from the Phoenix Suns, the market suggests Brown is also in line for a similar eight-figure salary.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Sacramento has proposed a three-year, $21 million contract extension for Brown. This extension, which could increase to $27 million with bonuses, would keep him with the Kings through the 2026-27 season. However, Brown is seeking an annual salary of approximately $10 million, which has delayed any agreement.

Under Brown’s leadership, Sacramento has posted a 94-70 record over two regular seasons and made the playoffs both times. Brown was named Coach of the Year for the second time in his career after leading the Kings to the playoffs in 2023 for the first time in 16 seasons. That year, the team finished with a 48-34 record, securing the third seed in the Western Conference. Despite losing in seven games to the sixth-seeded Golden State Warriors, the Kings continued to show promise.

In the 2023-24 season, the Kings finished 46-36, securing the ninth seed in a competitive Western Conference and winning their first play-in game against the tenth-seeded Warriors, though they did not advance beyond the play-in tournament.

Brown, who was dismissed by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014 and had been out of touch with the NBA, has revitalized his career. He gained valuable experience under Steve Kerr with the Golden State Warriors, winning three championships. Known for his defense-first approach under Gregg Popovich, Brown brought a new culture and confidence to Sacramento.

Brown’s impact is evident in the team’s improved performance. Domantas Sabonis has had consecutive All-Star seasons, excelling as a scorer and rebounder, while point guard De’Aaron Fox has emerged as a potential MVP candidate and clutch performer. The Kings’ turnaround under Brown is more significant than anything the franchise had achieved in over a decade.

Given the lucrative deals signed by his peers, Brown has a solid case for demanding a similar compensation package.
