Surprising Act: Joe Philbin has been suspended from perticipating in  all sport activities for placing a bet against……

The Warrington Wolves have a potentially season-defining two weeks, as they face the Wigan Warriors in back to back games. They host Wigan in the Super League this weekend before the sides meet again the following week at Wembley in the Challenge Cup final.

Warrington head coach, Sam Burgess, has named a much-changed side for this weekend’s clash against Wigan. Burgess has named a squad with nine changed from their clash with the Catalans Dragons last weekend, and as many as six young players could make their Wolves debut.

Whilst some of those changes are resting key players ahead of the Challenge Cup final, others have been forced upon the Wolves. For example, George Williams will sit out the game as he serves a one match ban.

Now, Warrington have confirmed that another key player will miss not only the Wigan game but a significant proportion of the season.

In a post on the social media site, X, Warrington confirmed that Philbin faces a prolonged injury lay off due. The statement read:

“Joe Philbin has successfully undergone surgery today on an adductor injury which will keep our prop forward sidelined for approximately 10 weeks.
