So sad to say goodbye: Walsall most talented star player announces his leaving might he be done with the……

Forest Green has signed Tom Knowles on a free transfer after he left Walsall at the end of last season.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder made over 70 appearances for the Saddlers and previously played for Yeovil Town and Cambridge United.

Reflecting on his time at Walsall, Knowles said: “I really enjoyed my time there. Despite some ups and downs with injuries, I had some excellent games. We pushed hard until the end of the season, and it was disappointing not to get promoted. I’ve learned a lot and discovered a new position, so overall it was a valuable experience.”

Knowles now joins Steve Cotterill’s Rovers squad, following the arrivals of Liam Sercombe, Sean Long, and Ben Tozer.

“I’ve spoken with the gaffer, and the club’s ambition and vision immediately caught my attention,” he said. “As a player, I want to achieve and win things in my career, and Forest Green seems like the perfect place to do that. I aim to help us return to the EFL and then move up to League One.

“Every time I’ve been to the New Lawn, it’s been a fantastic ground with excellent facilities. I’ve also spoken to a couple of players who had only good things to say. It’s a club with ambition, which aligns with my goals as a player.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of the National League and working to get back into the EFL, as well as working under the gaffer, meeting my new teammates, and making it a successful season.”
