Am Leaving: Sasha Vezenkov has terminate his $20 million contract extension offered by the Sacramento Kings due to his…..
After a fluctuating first season in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings, Sasha Vezenkov may not return to the franchise for his second contract year.
According to Eurohoops sources, the 28-year-old forward has informed the team of his intention to leave. It remains undecided whether he will seek another opportunity in the NBA or return to Europe. Last year, he signed a three-year, $20 million contract, with the first two years guaranteed.
In his debut season with Mike Brown’s team, Vezenkov averaged 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game over 42 games. His top scoring performances were against the Phoenix Suns, where he scored 14 points in each game.
If the Bulgarian forward returns to the EuroLeague, it will generate significant interest among Europe’s top teams, as Vezenkov left after being named EuroLeague MVP. Had it not been for Sergio Llull’s decisive shot in the final game in Kaunas, he would have been named Final Four MVP with Olympiacos, securing the championship title.
Before joining the NBA, he spent five years with Olympiacos from 2018 to 2023. Earlier in his career, he was a standout player for Aris from 2011 to 2015, earning the MVP award of the Greek League in the 2014-15 season, and played for Barcelona from 2015 to 2018.
