IT IS A DONE DEAL: Another mega star player committed to the Stoke city just….

Sunderland’s transfer planning came to a standstill early this summer as the hunt for a new manager extends into June. The Black Cats have been searching for a new boss for several months now, but have yet to secure a candidate.

The Black Cats aim to resolve this in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, other Championship teams are advancing with their recruitment for the upcoming season. With that in mind, here is a roundup of the latest news from the rest of the Championship.

Leeds United are reportedly ‘certain’ to try and make Joe Rodon’s loan deal from Tottenham permanent this summer. The centre-back had an excellent season, and Phil Hay of The Athletic mentioned on the Square Ball Podcast: “I am absolutely certain they will take Rodon back if they can. Financially, it’s tough for Leeds, but their spending will depend on how much they can generate from outgoing players.

“Financially, it’s preferable to get Rodon on loan if possible. I don’t know his options, but he seemed happy here and it’s been one of his best seasons performance-wise. It would make sense.”

Stoke City have announced the signing of Norwich City defender Ben Gibson on a free transfer. Gibson made over 80 league appearances for the Canaries in the last three years.

Stoke’s sporting director Jonathan Walters said: “Successful teams need leaders, strong characters, and experience, and Ben brings all three. Beyond his on-pitch contributions, he sets high standards for himself and others, both in training and off the field.

“Having achieved promotion from the second tier several times in his career, Ben knows what it takes to succeed at this level. He was almost ever-present in a play-off side last season and brings the hunger, mentality, and leadership to drive our club forward.”

Watford have reportedly made an offer to Valencia winger Declan Frith. According to the BBC, the Hornets have proposed to sign Frith, who has been playing with Valencia’s B team.

The 22-year-old Englishman is also reportedly being targeted by Getafe this summer as the Madrid-based side looks to replace loanee Mason Greenwood, who will be returning to Manchester United temporarily. Frith, who has previously been with Aston Villa and Chelsea, can play both left-back and left-wing, and has made 14 league appearances for Valencia’s B team. Watford are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season under Tom Cleverley’s leadership at Vicarage Road.
