HE IS COMING: A super star player committed the to Wrexham AFC just…..
Welsh legend Gareth Bale has already responded to Rob McElhenney’s latest intriguing offer.
Since Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds took over, Wrexham’s football club status has soared. The Hollywood duo breathed new life into the town, transforming everyone’s outlook on the club, especially in the transfer market.
Last summer, the Reds brought in former Premier League players James McClean and Steven Fletcher, and in March 2023, Luke Young described the surreal feeling when Ben Foster joined the team.
With their return to League One, Wrexham is aiming higher. Humphrey Ker hasn’t ruled out a move for Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, who dispelled those rumors by signing a new contract with the Foxes.
Gareth Bale is the latest high-profile name mentioned, with McElhenney recently revealing that an offer for Wales’ all-time top scorer is still open.
The last major signing was Foster’s arrival at the Racecourse Ground, and McElhenney seems keen to recreate that buzz by bringing Bale to the club.
To lure the 34-year-old back to Wales, McElhenney promised he could play golf whenever he liked, as long as he committed to training and made himself available for matches.
“Gareth Bale is still technically available! I made the plea last year, and I’m just going to tell Gareth that the offer is still on the table,” McElhenney said. “We’ll let him play golf whenever he wants, as long as he comes to training, and we’ll figure out how to get him in the team.”
However, the odds of persuading Bale to come out of retirement for League One are very slim. The former Real Madrid star retired in January 2023 after a brief stint with MLS side LA FC and has dismissed any rumors of signing for Wrexham.
In April 2023, Bale told the Manchester Evening News: “No, I don’t think so. I think I was looking more for a free round of golf off Rob. I’m sure we’ll have a chat and a joke, but I’m quite happy where I am. I’m spending a lot of time with my kids and my wife, enjoying family life and playing some golf.”
