Deal confirmed: Welcome to Wrexham for life! Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will never “run out of stories” as the Hollywood stars opt for authenticity over self-importance.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney plan to continue the “Welcome to Wrexham” documentary indefinitely, as they believe they will never “run out of stories” to tell.

The Hollywood stars began filming at the Racecourse immediately after their surprising takeover, aiming to give the world a glimpse into the club. The show has surpassed all expectations, garnering numerous prestigious awards in North Wales.

Season three ended thrillingly, and a fourth season has been confirmed. McElhenney explained to The Wrap that there’s no risk of running out of content: “Our ultimate goal is to document the rise of the club and the town for as long as possible because it’s an endless source of stories. When people say, ‘Eventually you’ll run out of stories,’ I think, ‘Really? Because we haven’t for thousands of years.’”

Reynolds and McElhenney have expanded “Welcome to Wrexham” beyond just football, revealing personal sides not usually seen in their sitcoms and films. McElhenney noted, “I’m used to editing myself for ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,’ prioritizing comedy over vanity. But ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ is harder because I’m not playing a character.”

McElhenney admitted there are scenes he “wasn’t necessarily ashamed of” but typically “wouldn’t want to show.” He added, “I knew they had to be included because they’re compelling. Sometimes they’re funny, but ultimately, they’re honest. So, those moments stay in the show.”

Reynolds echoed this sentiment, saying, “Talent can create something incredible. You can even make something amazing through ego. But vanity will destroy you every time, especially when crafting a movie, show, or anything meant to connect with people. You cannot connect with people through vanity.”
