Right-back Connor Barrett’s deal with National League team AFC Fylde expires at the end of the month, and Walsall will sign him.
The 22-year-old turned down a new deal from Fylde after making 41 appearances and scoring three goals in the previous campaign.
Additionally, he and the Saddlers, who placed 11th in League Two the previous season, have reached a three-year agreement.
In a statement, Walsall stated that they intended to “resolve this matter in due course” and that Fylde are entitled to a compensation fee.
Barrett is the first player the Bescot club has signed in the summer transfer window. Barrett started his career at the Leicester City youth.
Head coach Mat Sadler stated, “We have been really impressed with him during his time with Fylde.””He’s another exciting young player that we have been able to add into the mix of what we already have here and I’m excited to see what he can do in a Saddlers shirt.”
“All the talks with the head coach were positive, and I feel like he’ll push me one step further under his management and guidance,” Barrett continued.
