One of Texas’ best tight ends pledged to the Sooners on Saturday afternoon, bolstering their recruiting class for 2026.

Following his appearance at the most recent Brent Venables Football Camp in Norman, when he stood out from the throng, Mix made his vow. The incoming junior tight end demonstrated promise as a blocker and pass catcher during tight end drills by appearing explosive and athletic.

Mix used his size and strength to get open against defensive backs in one-on-one receiving drills, while his quickness and outstanding release off the line of scrimmage helped him beat linebackers.

Mix, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound tight end, is ranked No. 10 in the 2026 recruiting class and No. 200 nationally. Nearly 30 offers for the Frisco, Texas, product were made by OU, who beat out Florida State, Michigan, LSU, Miami, and numerous more schools.

Before hisMix caught 16 passes for 248 yards and three scores as a sophomore at Lone Star, which helped the Rangers win the district championship. Alongside Jordan Deck, who just accepted an offer from the Sooners, is the versatile tight end.

In the 2026 recruiting class, Mix is Brent Venables’ second commitment. He will team up with Jonathan Hatton Jr., a 4-star running back from Cibolo Steele (TX), to help Seth Littrell and Joe Jon Finley get off to a strong start in the cycle.

During Thursday’s camp session, Jaden O’Neal, a 4-star signal caller in the same class, was also present on campus.
