It’s a done deal: Another mega star player Cameron Harrison committed to the Arkansas softball just…..

FAYETTEVILLE – On Saturday, one of the standout recruits in Arkansas’ top-five ranked softball class was honored as the best player in Texas.

Cameron Harrison, a pitcher from Katy, received the title of Gatorade Player of the Year for Texas following an exceptional senior season where she achieved a 22-1 record, a 0.53 ERA, and 232 strikeouts in 119.1 innings pitched.

In addition to her pitching prowess, Harrison also excelled at the plate, hitting .500 with 10 home runs, 47 RBIs, and 28 runs scored, contributing to her team’s impressive 39-3-1 record this season.

“She embodies everything you want in a player,” said retired Katy softball coach Kalum Haack to the Katy Times. “Her talent, pitching, and hitting are remarkable, but her work ethic and leadership truly stand out. She acts like a second coach on the field and possesses unique qualities that will take her far.”

Harrison is part of an eight-player class that features four of the nation’s top high school pitchers, earning a No. 5 ranking from Extra Innings.

“Cameryn has both power and control,” Paetow head coach Ryan Baker stated in the Gatorade release. “She’s precise and rarely makes mistakes. She’s the kind of pitcher who wants the ball and doesn’t want to leave the game. Besides her power hitting, she can bunt effectively and always puts the team first.”

Joining Harrison at Arkansas is Katy outfielder Ashtyn Reichardt, the District 19-6A Offensive Player of the Year, who led her team with 412 runs scored while allowing just 28.

“She’s the best pitcher I’ve ever worked with,” Reichardt told the Katy Times about Harrison. “Her dedication on every pitch inspires her teammates to work just as hard, elevating everyone around her.”

Reichardt had an outstanding season, hitting .560 with 11 home runs, 45 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases, playing for a team that was ranked No. 1 nationally for most of the high school season.

Harrison will be joined by two other All-American pitchers at Arkansas: Lexi King from Windmere, Fla., and Payton Burnham from Eugene (OR) Sheldon.

King, who ended her high school career with 37 wins and 359 strikeouts, had a senior season record of 15-2 with a 0.88 ERA and allowed just a .172 batting average, conceding only 13 runs and walking 10.

Burnham, the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year in Oregon, finished her senior season 29-0 with a 0.32 ERA, striking out 328 batters in 152 innings. She also hit 17 home runs and pitched a no-hitter to clinch back-to-back championships for her team. As a junior, she had a record of 30-1 with a 0.19 ERA and 375 strikeouts in 186 innings.

Other position players in the class include Reichardt, Ella McDowell from Richmond (Texas) Foster, Ava Carter from Green County Tech, Jayden Ramos from Fresno (Calif.) Central, and Ramsey Walker from Shreveport (LA) Calvary Baptist.

McDowell, ranked as one of the top three players nationally and the best infielder in the 2024 class by Extra Innings Softball, hit .709 with 22 home runs and 58 RBIs in her senior season.

Walker had a stellar season, batting .575 with 23 home runs and 68 RBIs, leading Calvary Baptist to its fourth consecutive state championship.
