SO SAD TO BEAR: Arthur Okonkwo has been suspended from participating in all sport activities for playing a bet against…..

Wrexham are busy preparing for life in League One, and Phil Parkinson is looking to make new signings in the coming weeks and months.

Several positions need attention at the STÅK Cae Ras following Wrexham’s promotion to League One.

Wrexham need to sign two or possibly three centre-backs this summer after releasing Ben Tozer, Aaron Hayden, and Jordan Tunnicliffe.

Phil Parkinson also needs to find a new goalkeeper, as last season’s loanee Arthur Okonkwo was outstanding between the sticks for Wrexham after Ben Foster’s retirement.

Okonkwo was exceptional for Wrexham, earning a spot in the League Two Team of the Season and winning over the Wrexham fanbase.

Wrexham fans are eager for Okonkwo to return on a permanent basis this summer, but his impressive performances mean Wrexham could face stiff competition.

Okonkwo’s contract with Arsenal is up this summer, and it was always likely the Gunners would let him go.

The 22-year-old needs first-team football, which isn’t an option at Arsenal.

Okonkwo has indicated he will move on this summer but hasn’t yet decided on his next destination.

Any doubt about Okonkwo leaving Arsenal has now been dispelled with the Gunners’ announcement of their retained list, confirming Okonkwo’s departure.

Okonkwo is among several players leaving Arsenal this summer, with Mikel Arteta’s team standing firm on their decision despite his performances for Wrexham.

The competition for Okonkwo can officially begin, with Wrexham hopeful he enjoyed his time at the STÅK Cae Ras enough to return.
