Mat Sadler, the head coach of Walsall, has agreed to a new, undisclosed deal with the League Two team.

The 39-year-old was first brought on as an interim replacement for Michael Flynn a year ago.

Before they travel to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, he led the former Walsall player team to 10th position in the standings this season, three points outside of the play-off spots.

“I’m delighted to continue the progression and move it forward into next season,” Sadler stated.

“We want the entire club to be consistent. We’re attempting to piece things together piece by piece.

“That continuity and progress can only be the route and foundation for success.”at their demotion in 2019, Walsall has remained in the fourth division; their current point total of 65 is the highest at that time.

They have scored 68 goals and won 18 games, which is a record for them since 2015–16.

“In addition to seeing some positive strides on the field, Mat is setting the pace for the aggressive, hard-working, high-integrity culture that we want at the football club, by the work he puts in when nobody is watching,” Ben Boycott, our co-chairman, stated.

“He routinely opens the training ground by himself in the dark in the morning, and is often up into the early hours working as well.”

“I think the 2024 off-season is just a short break as we continue to develop this football team,” he continued.
