Tennessee baseball defeats Florida State in College World Series opener
**OMAHA, Neb.** — Tennessee baseball faces off against Florida State on Friday night in their opening game of the 2024 Men’s College World Series. The Vols aim to secure their first National Championship in program history.
The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, with commentary provided by Mike Monaco (play-by-play), former Stanford pitcher Kyle Peterson (analyst), former Tennessee infielder Chris Burke (analyst), and Kris Budden (reporter).

Additionally, UT is the only SEC team to achieve back-to-back appearances in the CWS for the first time in its history.
Florida State is making its 24th appearance at the College World Series and its first since 2019 after sweeping Connecticut in the Tallahassee Super Regional. ACC Player of the Year James Tibbs III broke an 8-8 tie in the 12th inning with his third home run of the day on Saturday, leading Florida State (47-15) to a 10-8 victory over UConn.
The winner of tonight’s game will play against North Carolina on Sunday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN2. UNC advanced to the winner’s bracket by defeating Virginia 3-2 earlier in the day. The loser between the Vols and Seminoles will face the Cavaliers on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
