Arizona Softball has announced the addition of graduate transfer Saya Swain from Iowa State just….

“We are excited to welcome Saya into our program!” said Head Coach Caitlin Lowe. “She is a high-character individual who brings four years of experience from our new conference. She will be an excellent addition to our team, and we cannot wait to get her Tucson.

“Saya’s ability to generate swings and misses and keep hitters off balance is going to complement our current pitching staff extremely well. I love the way our bullpen is shaping up, with many different looks and weapons.”

During her career at Iowa State, Swain totaled 290 strikeouts over 253.1 innings pitched and earned seven saves. She averaged 1.15 strikeouts per inning and had a career swing and miss rate on a changeup of 47%. Swain recorded 8.6 strikeouts per seven innings to lead the Iowa State pitching staff in 2023. In addition, Swain totaled 120 strikeouts in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

In the 2023 season, Swain tallied six saves which ranked second in the Big 12 and 11th in the NCAA.

Swain will join Arizona’s signing class that includes incoming freshmen Emma Kavanaugh, Jenna Sniffen, Kate Vance, Anyssa Wild, and Sarah Wright in the fall
