Sheffield Wednesday’s young talent, Joey Phuthi, aims to represent Zimbabwe in the coming weeks. Despite not playing in the Warriors’ recent World Cup Qualifiers, where they suffered defeats against Lesotho and South Africa, he will have more opportunities to prove himself as they gear up for the COSAFA Cup.

Last week, it was announced that Zimbabwe would face Zambia and Comoros in Group B of the competition, with their third opponent now confirmed.

Jairos Tapera’s team has learned that Kenya will occupy the fourth slot in their group. The Zimbabweans are aiming to secure either the top spot or the best runner-up position to qualify for the tournament semifinals in early July.

The tournament kicks off in South Africa on June 26th, with the final and third-place play-off scheduled for July 7th. Specific details for each game have not yet been released. Phuthi, who recently had an option on his Owls contract exercised, made his national debut against Kenya as a late substitute in March. He hopes to get more playing time when facing the Harambee Stars again.
