SO SAD TO BEAR: OU softball outfielder Hannah Coor undergoes a second back surgery

Coor’s primary impact on the Sooners’ fourth consecutive national championship in 2024 came from her defensive play. She frequently substituted in the late innings as a defensive replacement for freshman slugger Kasidi Pickering.

When centerfielder Jayda Coleman made a home run-saving catch against Florida State in OU’s super regional—a play that ranked No. 2 on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10—she credited Coor for guiding her on how much space she had before hitting the outfield wall.

“This season was one of the most fun and exciting ones yet, but also extremely tough. One of the hardest ones,” Coor wrote on Instagram. “The fight and strength displayed this season will always be the biggest win for me and something I will remember for the rest of my life.

“Pain is no one’s friend, and I am so ready to get rid of mine. I’m currently at the hospital waiting for my second back surgery. I could use all the healing thoughts and prayers sent my way. My hard is now, and I’m beginning to understand and appreciate all my challenges in life. God is a mighty God who will continue giving me strength through all of this.”
