Ryan Allsop highlights his ‘major strength’ and Chris Davies’ assessment before his transfer to Birmingham City

Ryan Allsop aligns with Chris Davies’ vision for Birmingham City and is eager to contribute to the club’s transformation in playing style.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper became the Blues’ first summer signing on Tuesday, committing to a three-year deal to join forces with Davies. Allsop, a Birmingham native, was a key player for Hull City last season, helping them contend for the play-offs under Liam Rosenior.

Renowned for his ball-playing abilities, Allsop is well-suited to Blues’ goal of becoming a possession-based team, having thrived in that role at Hull City. He led all Championship goalkeepers in touches and passes last season.

“I’m very proud of that aspect of my game,” Allsop said. “I consider it a major strength to be comfortable with the ball at my feet, aiding in build-up play and maintaining possession. Hopefully, this aligns with our team’s strategy and propels us in the right direction.”
