Deal canceled: Paul Warne has terminate a four-year-deal £7,252,000 contract extension offered by the Derby County after…..
Paul Warne needs to strengthen almost every position at Derby County, particularly the left wing-back role, where he might seek an alternative to Louie Sibley.
It’s been over a month since Derby announced their roster changes for the 2023/24 season at Pride Park.
Warne released six first-team players, including Conor Hourihane, Korey Smith, and Joe Wildsmith, while offering new contracts to top scorer James Collins and academy graduate Louie Sibley.
With their contracts set to expire at the end of the month, the lack of updates on their futures suggests that negotiations may have hit a snag or that the players are taking their time to decide.
For Sibley, this period is crucial as he has been with the club for 14 years, joining the academy at eight and rising to first-team prominence.
The 22-year-old had an impressive season at Pride Park, transitioning into a left wing-back role and attracting interest from League One side Rotherham United.
Whether Sibley leaves or not, Warne might invest in a new left-back to replace him or compete for his spot on the team.
Rio Adebisi, a product of Crewe Alexandra’s youth academy, is among the many talents to have emerged from their esteemed program.
