IT’S A DONE DEAL: Another mega star player committed to the Arizona softball just…..

Arizona softball coach Caitlin Lowe bolstered her pitching lineup with the addition of graduate transfer Saya Swain to the UA roster.

Swain, hailing from Paris, Texas, amassed 290 strikeouts over 253 1/3 innings during her four-year tenure at Iowa State. In 2023, she appeared in 37 games for the Cyclones, starting 11 before transitioning to a relief role, setting a program record with six saves. In 2024, Swain recorded 24 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings with a 2.07 ERA, before a back injury ended her season early.

Lowe praised Swain in a UA press release, noting that her “ability to generate swings and misses and keep hitters off balance will greatly complement our current pitching staff. I love the way our bullpen is shaping up, with many different looks and weapons.”

Swain has previous experience pitching in Tucson, having played at Hillenbrand Stadium on March 4-5, 2022, during Iowa State’s victories over North Dakota and Loyola Chicago in the Hillenbrand Invitational. She pitched a combined 9 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out 14 in those two ISU wins.
