The Oklahoma Sooners are striving to make history this year by becoming the first softball team to secure four consecutive Women’s College World Series (WCWS) titles.

With three consecutive national championships and seven titles overall, the Sooners are third on the all-time list of the most successful WCWS teams.

No team, including the top two—University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Arizona—has ever won four consecutive titles.

Both UCLA and Arizona each claimed five nonconsecutive WCWS titles between 1988 and 1997, dominating college softball throughout that decade.

The Sooners began their pursuit of a fourth consecutive WCWS title with a commanding 9-1 victory over Duke on May 30.
