Nathan Sheron, the new signing for Hartlepool United, believes Darren Sarll’s playing style is perfectly suited for him.

Nathan Sheron, a 26-year-old midfielder, joins Hartlepool United from Oldham, where he made 89 league appearances over two seasons, earning a reputation for his industriousness, tenacity, and determination.

Since Darren Sarll’s appointment at the end of April, the former manager of Stevenage, Yeovil, and Woking has emphasized his goal of making Pools more robust and difficult to play against.

Last season, the midfield trio of Nicky Featherstone, Tom Crawford, and Callum Cooke were often too easily bypassed, leading supporters to hope that new signings Sheron and Jack Hunter will bring solidity to the midfield.

Versatile midfielder Sheron, acquired from Oldham for an undisclosed fee, believes Darren Sarll’s style is an ideal match for him. Both Sheron and Hunter, known for their strong tackling, defensive mindset, and reliability, made a combined 89 appearances last season, contributing significantly to their teams’ top 10 finishes in the National League.

Sheron, who rose through Liverpool’s ranks and gained Football League experience with Fleetwood and Harrogate, can play in midfield or across the back line, but Sarll seems to prefer using him primarily in front of the defense.

Sarll’s teams are known for being relentless, powerful, and full of running, qualities that Sheron embodies. Fans are hopeful that Sheron and Hunter can form a strong partnership at the base of midfield, freeing up the creative Anthony Mancini, who has recovered from a groin injury, to operate further forward.

Sarll’s style, characterized by its bullish, demanding, and no-nonsense approach, might not appeal to everyone, but it seems to align perfectly with Sheron’s hard-working nature. Sheron, Sarll’s third summer signing, admitted that the manager’s vision was a significant factor in his decision to join Pools.

“I’m proud and excited to be here,” Sheron told the club’s official website. “The manager explained his plans and what he expects from me, and I think it suits me perfectly. I’m really happy to be here.”
