So sad to bear: Los Angeles Angels Patrick Sandoval announces his leaving after……
The Los Angeles Angels split the Freeway Series with the Dodgers over the weekend. The Angels won Friday’s game in extra innings but were overpowered 7-2 in Saturday’s finale, losing one of their top starting pitchers in the process.
Adding to their woes, the Angels had to see their former star Shohei Ohtani in a Dodgers uniform, and he showed no mercy to his old team. The Dodgers’ social media team also enjoyed the moment, poking fun at the Angels.
Patrick Sandoval had a short outing on Friday, leaving in the third inning with a forearm injury and later being placed on the 15-day IL. Reliever Guillermo Zuniga took his place, and the rotation spot remains unfilled.
This adds to the Angels’ rotation issues, having already optioned Reid Detmers and lost Chase Silseth and Josè Soriano to the IL. While the hope is for Sandoval to miss only the minimum time, there’s a chance he might not return until after the All-Star break.
The Dodgers’ social media team seized the opportunity to mock the Angels, posting a video of Ohtani’s bat flip after a home run on Saturday night, capitalizing on his presence with their crosstown rivals.
