The Rams have singled him out as a potential replacement for Joe Wildsmith.
Carlton Palmer believes Daniel Iversen would be an excellent signing for Derby County, providing them with guaranteed Championship experience. However, he cautioned that Iversen’s wages could pose a significant hurdle to any deal this summer.
The Rams are interested in the Leicester City goalkeeper as they search for a new number one following Joe Wildsmith’s release after their promotion. However, Leicester’s recent promotion to the Premier League has complicated matters, as Iversen is due for a raise. Stoke boss Steven Schumacher mentioned this contractual change when considering a move for Iversen after his successful loan spell last season. Former England international Palmer told Football League World that while Iversen would be a good fit, the deal would be costly.
“Derby County and Paul Warne are aiming to recruit quality players for their return to the Championship next season. One area they need to address is the goalkeeping situation, and they are looking at Leicester’s Daniel Iversen,” Palmer said to Football League World.
“He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Stoke City, where he performed exceptionally well. Leicester has indicated they will loan him out again this season. The challenge, however, is the substantial pay raise following Leicester’s promotion.”
