Middlesbrough, one of last season’s Carabao Cup semi-finalists, will face Championship rivals Leeds United away in the first round of the 2024-25 competition. Boro had a 1-0 lead in their first match against Chelsea but were ultimately defeated 6-2 on aggregate in January, missing out on a Wembley final.

Derby County, returning to the Championship next season, will host East Midlands rivals Chesterfield, who are back in the competition after six years following their promotion to the English Football League.

Sheffield United, relegated from the Premier League, will take on Wrexham, echoing their dramatic FA Cup fourth-round match from 2023.

Bromley, newly promoted to the EFL in May and making their competition debut, will welcome fellow League Two side AFC Wimbledon.

The first round of matches is scheduled for the week commencing 12 August, with the final set to take place at Wembley on Sunday, 16 March 2025.
