Omari Hutchinson is set for a permanent return to Ipswich Town, with the teams agreeing on a £20m transfer for the 20-year-old winger — a record fee for the Tractor Boys.

Reports indicate that the transfer includes £2.5m in add-ons and a sell-on clause. Chelsea won’t receive the full £20m, as Arsenal is owed an unspecified percentage due to a sell-on clause from two years ago when Hutchinson rejoined Chelsea from the Gunners.

Hutchinson began his career at the Chelsea Academy before spending several years at Arsenal, via Charlton Athletic. He returned to Chelsea in 2022 but only made a few appearances off the bench in his first season.

The Jamaica international shows great promise, but he’ll be showcasing his talents and potentially fulfilling his potential away from Stamford Bridge. Ipswich Town head coach Kieran McKenna showed great faith in him in the Championship last year and is expected to do the same in the Premier League — barring any last-minute issues with the medical.
