The Maroons have received a significant boost as Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow has been cleared of a serious shoulder injury.

The outside back sustained the injury during the first half of Wednesday’s State of Origin loss to the Blues. He left the field but returned in the second half.

Scans revealed a grade one AC joint injury, ruling Tabuai-Fidow out of his club match for the Dolphins against St George Illawarra on Sunday. Trai Fuller is expected to take his place.

In a positive development, Tabuai-Fidow is anticipated to be available for selection for next month’s Origin decider.

“If we did not have a bye next week, he would be ready to play for the Dolphins,” Dolphins head of performance Jeremy Hickmans said.

“Due to the third Origin camp, he is unlikely to play against the Rabbitohs on July 11.

“The injury is healing well and should not cause him any issues in his next game, which will likely be for Queensland.”

Meanwhile, the Storm suffered a setback on Friday as fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen withdrew from the side facing Canberra due to a bruised foot.

Papenhuyzen had just returned in Round 16 after missing five games with a fractured ankle.
