West Brom midfielder Alex Mowatt has signed a new two-year contract with the Championship club.

The 29-year-old was offered the new deal in May, as his previous contract was set to expire in June.

Mowatt’s new contract includes an appearance-related clause that could extend it by an additional 12 months.

Since joining from Barnsley in the summer of 2021, he has scored six goals in 84 appearances across all competitions for West Brom.

More than half of those appearances came last season after his return to The Hawthorns, following a loan spell with Championship rivals Middlesbrough during the 2022-23 season.

“I’m delighted to be staying and my mind was made up as soon as last season had finished,” Mowatt told the club’s website. “It’s been a long wait, but I’m happy to get it done because I love it here.”

Meanwhile, 23-year-old goalkeeper Ted Cann, who has yet to make a senior appearance for the club, has signed a new one-year deal.

The club also holds an option to extend Cann’s contract for an additional 12 months. Cann is a former Liverpool academy player.
