The 26-year-old made 182 appearances for the Sky Blues, initially joining on loan in August 2019. He scored 22 goals during his time with the club and was part of the squad that reached the FA Cup semi-finals last season, ultimately losing 4-2 on penalties to Manchester United at Wembley.
In the 2023-24 season, he netted 10 goals as the club finished ninth in the Championship.
“Coventry City would like to thank Callum for his contribution to the club, which was unfortunately significantly disrupted due to injury over his last two seasons with us,” the club stated.
Former Coventry midfielder George Boateng is returning to the club as part of manager Mark Robins’ coaching staff. Boateng and Rhys Carr have been appointed as first-team coaches, while assistant boss Adi Viveash is leaving the CBS Arena.
Boateng, a former Netherlands international, scored seven goals in 57 games for the Sky Blues from 1997 to 1999 before being sold to Aston Villa.
“We are very pleased to welcome George and Rhys to Coventry City. They both impressed us during the extensive recruitment process for this important role and each bring key skills to the football department,” Robins said. “Their experience and knowledge will greatly aid our work to maximise the performance and preparation of our team, both in advance of, and on matchdays, and we are excited to begin working with them.”
Carr joins Coventry from Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he was an individual development coach, and also worked with the Republic of Ireland Women’s team.
Viveash had been obiRns’ number two throughout his second spell at the club from 2017.
A club statement read: “Coventry City would like to put on record its thanks to Adi for the last seven years of service to the Sky Blues and the role that he has played in our achievements over that time, including promotion from League Two to the Championship.”
Coventry finished ninth in the Championship last season, having reached the play-off final in 2022-23, only to lose to Luton Town on penalties at Wembley.
