Adam Lakeland has been named the new manager of King’s Lynn Town.
The 38-year-old joins the Linnets from National North side Curzon Ashton, bringing his assistant Sam Walker with him to Norfolk.
King’s Lynn chairman Stephen Cleeve expressed his delight on the club’s official website: “I am so pleased that Adam has become a Linnet – he is, in my opinion, the best manager in our division.”
Lakeland’s first match in charge will be a home game against Buxton on 7 October.
Former manager Mark Hughes was dismissed after a disappointing start to the season, with the Linnets winning just one of their first 12 matches in all competitions.
Lakeland began his coaching career with Blackburn Rovers Women in 2006 and then served as first team coach at Curzon Ashton before taking managerial roles at Northwich Victoria and Farsley Celtic.
He returned to Curzon Ashton in November 2021 and narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season. He leaves Curzon Ashton with the team in seventh place in National North.
‘Nothing but positive’
Lakeland commented on the club’s official website: “From the moment the chairman approached my former club for permission to speak to me about the role, and through our numerous conversations, I’ve been nothing but positive about this move and cannot wait to get started.”
