De Telegraaf reports that Derby County is poised to secure the signing of Kenzo Goudmijn from AZ Alkmaar, beating out several other teams. The 22-year-old midfielder was highly sought after by nearly every team in the Eredivisie, but the former Netherlands youth international has chosen to move to the Championship. Derby County is set to pay approximately €800,000 for the young talent.

Goudmijn has spent his entire career with AZ Alkmaar but was on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam last season, where he contributed five goals in 23 appearances as the team was relegated to the second tier. At AZ, he has made 20 first-team appearances, starting in only three of those matches. The quick, agile, and attacking-minded midfielder will now have the opportunity to shine in the Championship with a four-year deal at Derby.

Heerenveen, FC Groningen, and Go Ahead Eagles all engaged in talks with Goudmijn, and with Robin van Persie taking over as head coach of Heerenveen, that seemed the most probable destination. However, Goudmijn has opted for an overseas adventure, making him a player to watch next season.
