When ex-Illini are set to debut in the Summer League

A summer tradition unlike any other: the NBA Summer League.

I always enjoy watching it; having basketball on in the middle of summer with players I enjoyed watching in college is fun.

However, in recent years, there haven’t been many former Illini participating in California, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas for the NBA’s rookie and young player program.

This year we have FOUR:

– Terrence Shannon Jr. with the T-Wolves: 3 p.m. Friday vs. New Orleans (ESPN2)
– Giorgi Bezhanishvili with the Pacers: 6 p.m. Friday vs. Brooklyn (NBA TV)
– Marcus Domask with the Bulls: 2:30 p.m. Saturday vs. Milwaukee (NBA TV)
– Quincy Guerrier with the Raptors: 6:30 p.m. Saturday vs. Oklahoma City (NBA TV)

Guerrier is expected to be on the Summer League roster, but the Raptors haven’t made it official yet.

From NBA.com:

The 20th NBA Summer League will feature all 30 NBA teams playing five games each. After every team plays four games from July 12-19, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs and participate in the semifinals on Sunday, July 21, at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. ET. The two winning teams from the semifinal games will meet in the championship game on Monday, July 22, at 9 p.m. ET. The 26 teams that do not advance to the four-team playoff will play a fifth game on either Saturday, July 20, or Sunday, July 21.

It should be fun to watch these guys compete, especially Giorgi, who is getting another shot at making an NBA roster.
