Deal Cancelled: Dutch Midfielder Goudmijn Declines to Join Derby County

The 22-year-old versatile midfielder has joined the Rams from Dutch top-flight club AZ Alkmaar.

Derby County have paid an undisclosed fee for his transfer, and he has signed a four-year contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2028.

Goudmijn has made 76 appearances in top-level football in the Netherlands, scoring four goals and providing four assists. Additionally, he has played over 100 matches in the second tier, scoring eight goals and providing 12 assists.

He is Derby’s fourth summer signing, following the acquisitions of Ben Osborn, Kayden Jackson, and Jerry Yates.

Goudmijn advanced through the youth ranks at AZ Alkmaar, progressing to Jong AZ, the club’s reserve team.

His impressive performances at youth level earned him his senior debut as a substitute at the age of 17 at the end of the 2018/19 season, with another substitute appearance in 2019/20.
