David Clowes, the owner of Derby County, has explained why he will be making changes to the team… see more

As with any new football club owner, fans want to be assured that their club is in capable hands and led by someone who can set realistic goals.

In 2022, Derby County’s situation was so dire that the club was just days away from oblivion while in administration.

David Clowes made the heartfelt and logical decision to move from being a North Stand season ticket holder to joining the Pride Park directors’ box.

He told BBC Radio Derby at the time, “I would never have forgiven myself if I had the means to save the club and didn’t do it.”

Now, two years after rescuing the club he grew up supporting, Clowes has shown a strong commitment to doing right by the fans.

An investment of £55 million has stabilized the Rams financially and mended the relationships that were severely damaged during the club’s downward spiral.

Clowes’ pursuit of Paul Warne as head coach was a brilliant move, demonstrating his substantial football knowledge as chairman and owner.

If you need to get yourself out of a tough situation quickly, who do you call?

Some fans have dubbed Warne the ‘League One Guardiola,’ and his success in getting Derby promoted back to the Championship last weekend has proven them right.

This marks Warne’s fourth promotion, having previously achieved success with Rotherham United on three occasions.
