Derby County have re-signed Ebou Adams from Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee following his instrumental role in helping the Rams achieve promotion from League One last season.
The 28-year-old Gambia international has signed a three-year contract at Pride Park, having made 17 appearances on loan for Paul Warne’s team last season as they secured promotion to the Championship as runners-up in League One.
Adams played a pivotal role in Derby’s promotion push in the latter part of the season, contributing to 11 wins and only three losses in the matches he featured in.
This permanent move to Derby marks the end of Adams’ two-year spell with Cardiff, where he managed just 13 appearances across all competitions. His appearances for Cardiff came exclusively in the first half of last season, as he endured a tendon tear and knee injury that postponed his competitive debut for the Bluebirds for a full year after joining from Forest Green in the summer of 2022.
As a result of these injuries, the former Dartford and Ebbsfleet midfielder has only made 11 appearances in the Championship, with the majority of his career spent in non-league and League Two football.
Earlier in his career, Adams was on Norwich City’s roster but did not feature in any senior matches for the Canaries, spending most of his time there on loan.
Adams has been a primary target for Paul Warne as Derby returns to the Championship after a two-year absence, and he has immediately joined the Rams for their pre-season training camp in Spain.
