Reports suggest that both the Yankees and the Mariners are interested in making a major trade.
It appears that the New York Yankees may face competition for one of their top targets as the trade deadline approaches.
With the deadline less than two weeks away, the Yankees are ramping up their trade efforts due to recent struggles, which have amplified calls for a significant move. One player frequently mentioned as a potential acquisition is Miami Marlins All-Star Jazz Chisholm Jr.
Chisholm, who is versatile on the field, would likely take over second base for the Yankees if a deal is reached. However, the Yankees are not alone in their interest. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Seattle Mariners are also reported to be interested in Chisholm.
Heyman notes, “The Marlins are making infielder-outfielder Jazz Chisholm and All-Star closer Tanner Scott available. While Chisholm’s move back to second base from center field isn’t explicitly related to trade talks, both the Yankees and Mariners are among the teams in need of infielders.”
Chisholm, known for his dynamic style and occasional outspoken remarks, is seen as a valuable asset. A former Marlins employee describes him as hardworking and humble, despite his flashy demeanor.
While Chisholm would be a great fit for the Yankees, the possibility of the Mariners also pursuing him means the situation remains uncertain.
