BREAKING NEWS: HE IS THE CHOSEN ONE……

A year ago, the name Alex Guerrero was unfamiliar to Birmingham City fans, but now, Tom Brady’s close associate plays a significant role behind the scenes in B9.

Guerrero has likely spent more time in Birmingham than minority investor Brady and watched the friendly against Solihull Moors from the stands on Wednesday. The 59-year-old joined the pitch afterward, interacting with various members of the Blues’ backroom staff before being embraced by Knighthead frontman Tom Wagner.

But who is he? Brady began collaborating with alternative medicine expert Guerrero in 2005 to prolong his NFL career. With Guerrero’s support, Brady won three Super Bowls and credits him with enhancing his athletic performance as he aged.

Publicly referring to Guerrero as his ‘body coach,’ Brady launched TB12 with him in 2013. This company leverages Brady’s fame to share Guerrero’s methods on performance, recovery, and nutrition with other athletes. Last season, Blues had two TB12 coaches, Peter Cummings and Rob Brennan, working with their first team. TB12, also known as TBRx, was conceived after a 2012 conversation between Brady and Guerrero: “If what we’re doing works for you, why wouldn’t it work for everyone?”

Explaining his approach, Guerrero said: “The body coach-client relationship must be a partnership. I value working closely with someone towards a common goal and find it immensely rewarding to see that goal achieved together. You form a special bond through shared accomplishments.”

A New York Times article described Guerrero as Brady’s ‘spiritual guide, counselor, pal, nutrition advisor, trainer, massage therapist, and family member.’ Many of Brady’s beliefs about nutrition and wellness in sports are shared and promoted by Guerrero.
