breaking news: Just now. Toronto Maple Leafs deal of Hiring Mark Leach as Director of Amateur Scouting has been terminated due to….

There was considerable concern and dismay when Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas recruited Wes Clark from his former team to lead Pittsburgh’s scouting department. This reaction was justified, as Clark had performed exceptionally well in Toronto.

However, the Maple Leafs have rebounded well by appointing Mark Leach as their new director of amateur scouting.

Leach has gained experience working with two of the top talent evaluators in the industry, Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill and Joe McDonnell.

In case you haven’t noticed, the Stars have been successful in drafting players, and Leach played a significant role as McDonnell’s “right-hand man,” according to Nill.

As Leach takes over a scouting department with limited opportunities in the next two drafts, it is crucial for him to replicate his success in Dallas by identifying impactful players in the middle and late rounds.
