SO SAD TO SAY GOOGBYE: VfB Stuttgart star player Serhou Guirassy announces his leaving to join……

Serhou Guirassy has transferred to Borussia Dortmund from VfB Stuttgart on a four-year contract.

In the 2023/24 season, Guirassy, 28, achieved career-best numbers, scoring 28 goals which helped Stuttgart finish as Bundesliga runners-up and secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2009. Only Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane scored more goals (36), though Kane played four more matches.

“Serhou is a complete striker who is extremely dangerous in front of goal, and he’ll strengthen our squad with his qualities,” said Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl. “We are very pleased that, after the latest medical examinations, he’ll be wearing the BVB jersey in the foreseeable future and scoring goals for us.”

Guirassy leaves Stuttgart with a record of 43 goals in 71 Bundesliga appearances, including 39 goals over two seasons with Stuttgart. He previously played for Cologne between 2016 and 2018 before moving to France to play for Amiens and Rennes. Since joining Stuttgart, the former Laval, Lille, and Auxerre forward has earned 16 senior international caps for Guinea, scoring three times.

“When Borussia Dortmund come knocking, it’s certainly something special,” said Guirassy. “Every child interested in football knows this club, the black and yellow jerseys, and the yellow wall. I’m very excited about all of that and my new teammates. It’s important for me to say that I came here to win titles. That’s my ambition, that’s what drives me. The club showed what is possible at BVB last year by reaching the Champions League final.”

Guirassy might make his competitive debut for Dortmund when the 2023/24 Champions League runners-up face Phönix Lübeck in the DFB Cup first round on August 17. The new Bundesliga season starts a week later, with Dortmund playing at home against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, August 24.

Dortmund, who finished fifth in the 2023/24 season, will compete in the Champions League again due to their run to the final and the performances of other German teams in UEFA competitions.

In June, Edin Terzić stepped down as head coach, with assistant and former BVB player Nuri Şahin taking over as his replacement.
